With Ecotrak’s Time Tracking for Internal Techs, organizations can now capture detailed technician time logs across their day—from the moment they clock in, to drive time, on-site work, breaks, and clocking out.

This feature addresses a common need among customers: full visibility into technician work hours and activity.

How It Works

Time Tracking for Internal Techs includes setup options, user roles, app workflows, and data points that work together to provide full-day technician tracking.

1. Enable Time Tracking

  • Navigate to Configurations > General Settings.

  • Enable Time Tracking (only visible if the company has internal technicians configured).

2. Define Roles & Permissions

  • Specify which Job Titles are required to time track.

  • Assign relevant permissions, including:

    • View/Edit own time punches

    • View all time cards

    • Manage others’ time punches

  • Standard job title roles apply for both Customer Companies and Service Providers.

3. Technician Workflow in Web & Mobile Apps

Technicians can use the Ecotrak Web or Techs Mobile App to log their time throughout the day.

Daily Tracking Options:

  • Clock In / Clock Out

    • Users are auto clocked out after 18 hours

    • Must clock in before using other tracking features

  • Break Time

    • Start / End Breaks

Work Order Time Tracking:

  • Drive to Work Order

    • Optionally select which work order they are driving to

    • Multiple drive entries can be logged

  • Check-In / Check-Out of Work Order

    • Required to select the work order when checking in

✅ System alerts guide users to update the work order status at appropriate times (e.g., when driving or starting work).

4. View Logged Time

  • Technicians (or managers, based on permissions) can view and edit time entries for the day.

  • Time cards can include:

    • Clocked hours

    • Breaks

    • Drive time per work order

    • On-site time per work order

5. Work Order Details View

  • See technician time directly on the work order, including:

    • Drive Time Logged

    • On-Site Time Logged

  • These logs are shown alongside the system’s automatic status tracking for transparency.

6. Timesheets for Review & Reporting

Available on the Web App:

  • View time sheets for a single technician or the full team

  • Summarized by:

    • Daily

    • Weekly

  • Includes support for managing each technician’s hourly wage
